Hi all,

Question: where would you start in terms of international, as well as domestic hunts, if you were in your early 20s? Given the following.

- unfortunately my mom passed last year and left me with some money, and i know that she’d want me to use some on a hunt
- i am physically very fit, scholarship athlete. zero physical limitations in terms of hunts id feel comfortable doing. limitations would be my shooting skills lol but i guess id have some time to dial in

I’m looking to book a big hunt for the next say 2-4 years. I want to do something, for lack of a better term, really f-ing cool.

Guess I’m just asking some more experienced hunters what their favorite trips or guided hunts have been, and where’d they start if they got to do it all again. (I’m not looking for financial advice, so please respect that)

I would do A LOT if research and have a price of each hunt that interested me. Then, I would decide what I want to spend my money on. One banger of a moose hunt? Multiple trips? Birds? Ranches? What tickles your fancy?

Youve got to decide between most flashy and money spent vs most enjoyment for your money. On the most enjoyment side would be antelope hunting in wyoming and stag hunting in argentina.

I'm 50 years older than you and quite envious of your situation. I wish I would have had a little money in my 20's but I didn't saying that this is what I'd do if I was in my 20's with a little money.
1. Africa always a good choice but choose wisely. I've been 5 times but would hit Namibia first as I really like that country be careful and hunt a conservancy area so if it's high fenced it's several 100 thousand acres.
2. New Zealand I just like the country and people it will all be high fenced but if the area is big enough it won't matter. Red Stags in the roar are an unbelievable experience.
3. I spent a lot of years hunting over the counter tags in Colorado for elk shot a few decent bulls but nothing like you can with a little money and the ability to but a landowner tag.
4. Europe Roe deer never did much for me but Beceite Ibex in Spain are a good hunt in a cool part of the world.
5. Alaska is big money anymore but what the hell you won't regret it and if you have the money go for it.
6 The one I've never done but wish I would have is high altitude sheep in the Stans. Kazakhstan would probably be my choice do it when you're young nearing 70's but physically fit still it makes me nervous. I think Marco Polos would be really f---ing cool.

Do it all I bet you won't regret it I never did even though I usually did it on the cheap. Make sure you come back on and tell us of your hunts, members here always appreciate it.

Tell us what all you’ve hunted?
Do you have a budget in mind?
come from a big white tail and upland bird family. waterfowl as well. killed a hog once lol. not really a particular budget. i guess im not spending 100 grand but mostly just want insight on what everyone’s favorite or most memorable trips they’d “love to do for the first time again”

Haha I definitely don’t care about flashy! What i will say is I would want to do something or multiple things I won’t be able to do as easily when I’m older, with more responsibility (time wise). So something like a 3 day elk hunt I can certainly do later in my years!

If I were you I would do a mountain goat hunt in southeast Alaska or coastal BC. I haven’t done a ton of western hunts but I’ve done a few, and that terrain is the nastiest stuff I’ve seen. Do it while you are young. They start around $16k and go up to around $30k

I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, but there are quite a few species and locations out there that I would save for when you are in your 40s, 50s, etc

I haven’t done it, but I can imagine a blue sheep hunt in Nepal would be a hard experience to top. I priced it recently and it comes in around $65K all-in

Interesting. Maybe I’ll look into that. Thanks for the reply.
