Not that I could add much, but lets see: my mom moved out of state when I was 11. She had so many drug and alcohol problems, maybe it was better, I dont know. I am grateful for having a fantastic step mother to help fill that void.

My situation with the kids is tricky. Fell in love with a Swedish girl and due to logistics, we have our home here in Sweden. Working here has always been tricky, in that I am not qualified for anything other than shit jobs because as a young punk, I didnt take my future seriously. We have two fantastic young sons and a tiny, comfortable home but when I have worked here in Sweden, it has always been a struggle to make ends meet. As such, I have stuck with my profession as a commercial fisherman on the high seas. Being away from my sweetheart and little boys for more than half the year is damn hard, and in my mind not a sustainable situation. I would suggest to anyone that if possible to support your family while being present, that is absolutely best. The kids deserve it. But sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do to make ends meet.

The plus side is 4-5 months per year home with nothing to do but take the kids outside. Still doesnt make it easier to be away from my little boys.

My x did it to me when my son was 13. Moved to a different state and got him involved in enough stuff it was difficult to have time for he and I. 8 years later we basically have a text relationship. If you can wait till your kids are grown I would stay.
