@Formidilosus, I am a big admirer of your work. I’m interested to hear your recommendation for a coyote round—cartridges and projectiles. Both if saving hides and if not saving hides, to the extent you have a view. Shots generally 350 and in with wind generally 5-10 mph. Priority is rapid incapacitation. Not interested in tracking yotes!

Thanks in advance.

Myself and a friend of mine have killed probably around 100 coyotes with the 69 TMK. Rifles used were a 26” 223 and a 16.5” 22x47. Muzzle velocity 3150-3300. Not fur friendly when at the upper end of velocity but has worked very well for us.

Thank you. I’m going to try the 77 TMK, but I’ll pick up some 69s as well.

When coyotes were worth money a few legit killers here were using 20 practicals. A guy that kills 500+ coyotes a year calling, uses the 52 Berger match out of 22-250’s.

I personally have seen the best results hide wise with the 52 Berger out of 22-250’s and 22 Creeds. (I haven’t used any other cartridges enough) I’ve used most of the light Vmax and they kill faster but leave giant holes sometimes.

The 53 Vmax seems to do better than the other Vmax hide wise.

The 77 TMK works great for dropping them. Not always fur friendly, but we’ve not seen anything outrageously destructive from them either.

Dont need a heavy for caliber bullet for coyotes at that distance. Ive been calling coyotes for close to 20 hrs, and my favorite bullet has been the nosler ballistic tip. Like dirty tough said, I have found the 52 gr berger, speer, or sierra to be the best for saving fur.
