Question about AZ tag

My buddy got drawn for a unit 23 non-res rifle tag.

We were planning on a Jan bowhunt OTC.

He was using Cabelas tags program and applies for lots of tags.

Is he stuck Rifle hunting 23?

If one tag is for 2013 and the other for 2014 then he's good to go.
Theoretically he could take a deer on Dec 31, 2013 and another on Jan 01, 2014 and be within compliance of the law from what I understand.

Would that rifle tag be good for mule deer?

The rifle tag should be for either Coues or Muley. The archery tag in Jan will be good for both. Did he draw the Oct hunt or the December? They have both Coues and Muley December hunts in that unit. The Oct coues hunt is pretty easy to draw. It took me 5 years to draw my last December Coues tag though.

I shot a 118" Coues with my bow in 23 in 2012 hes the buck in my picture, if I entered him into the books with the official SCI score sheets I have he would go #8 all time typical archery. There are monster bucks in that unit for both mule deer and whitetail. If you decide to go in october look in the thick country. Shoot me a PM if you need any pointers!
