This falls in line quite closely with the 140gr 6.5 Elite Hunter in terms of ballistics. Not a bad place to be for .25-cal owners!

Hhhmmmmm..... wonder if they will explode out of a .257wby? Probably not the case they had in mind 🙂

They will shoot, but the twist might be too slow...

In something like a modified saum case, it is wicked at long range and easy recoil. Its a perfect deer gun IMO. I feel a need for a 25 sst, even though I don't need one...

Right that's what I mean! I'd be hesitant to put a 1:8 on the bee...

If you put an 8 twist, I think it would be fine. I will ask a guy at NAMO if they have shot them at high velocity/twist.

The velocity coming down on a heavier bullet reduces the effect of higher twist. My gut reaction is they won't blow up. I know guys laying heat with other similar bullets, and they don't blow up.

Edited to add: There are .257 weatherby running the 131 ace blackjacks, so I doubt there will be any problem.

I think a .25 wildcat on the 6.8 Western would be nice, too.

Saw these a couple weeks ago and instantly thought 25-284 or 25 PRC depending on which bolt face you wanted to use and Lapua brass for both, well eventually for both. lol

I’d like to get my name on a preorder list if I could find one!

im finally getting a load dialed in for my 1:7 25-06. It’s been finicky to find accuracy with the 131 blackjacks and I’d love to try the Berger’s.

mines on a tikka action and the closest I can get to the lands is .03 due to mag length. If I was to do it again I’d go 25-284 and just neck down 6.5-284 lapua brass. I’m finding accuracy at least a grain below pressure at 3100fps only 25 rounds into development...likely a bit faster now that the barrel has a few more rounds through it.

Paul at Evolved Ballistics said to give him a call to get in on preorder, and he might get more if needed. He is also the largest Proof distributor.

Bought my last two Proof barrels from them and they were great to work with.

A long action or mid length at the least is what you'd want with a 25-284 and you could neck down Lapua 6.5-284 brass in one pass using 284 bushing die with the appropriate size bushing. Nothing wrong with 25-06 but unless you neck down Lapua 30-06 brass the brass quality is mediocre at best and the 25-06 and 25-284 have essentially the same case capacity so I'd hit the easy button and go 25-284.
