Good evening,
I’m slowly upgrading my western hunting gear and am looking to add a good tripod to my arsenal. The tripod will be carried on my Kifaru to help aid in glassing and possibly a rest for my rifle. I’m willing to spend a few hundred on a tripod but not looking to dish out 1000$ for tripod and head. Prefer the unit to be as light weight as possible and compact. Keep in mind I will only use the tripod 1 or 2 weeks a year so something within reason on the price.
Thanks!

I have the promaster xc-m 522c. it folds up very compact and doesn’t weigh much at all. No idea of your price range but I got a good deal on mine at camera land. I run a spotter on it no issues and a Sony A7iii with a 24-105 lens and no issues. Both spotter and camera are run with a Sirui va5 fluid head. Not a bad set up

I’ve also got the promaster, but the aluminum version and a demo from cameraland. Great tripod for the average guy like myself

Another happy Promaster owner; XC-M 525CK. Just under 3 pounds. Wish it were lighter, but tough as nails and can hold any spotter or camera I will ever use. About $270 new. Used it on a late October WY hunt. Very happy with it.

+1 for the promaster and Sirui Va5 head. Not the lightest setup but at ~$350 ish for the combo its a great setup. Head is the smoothest ive ever used and the tripod is rigid enough to use my 85 mm spotter at max height.

I recommend this if you like to stand and spot. I’m 5’9 and the 522 is barely y’all enough for an angled spotter. Wouldn’t work for a straight spotter for me.

Leofoto makes a great product for the money, and they’re beefy and light. I have a hookup if you’re interested

I have a SLIK 624 CF, I bought it during a sale several years ago and saved a few bucks. It has been bomb proof, it's lightweight and I really like it. The Promaster was out of stock during the sale, that was my first choice and matches up with a lot of recommendations here.

I can't remember the head I bought with it, maybe a Benro. It was okay but I upgraded to the Outdoorsman's micro pan head prior to their crazy price increases this last year. I handles a 65mm scope and has the bino quick detach which is awesome as well.

I'm a buy once, cry once sort of guy

If you are looking for sturdy carbon fiber, take a look at Two Vets Sporting Goods. I have their "no name" tripod, for shooting a rifle off of standing, but their "40 mike mike" might be in the running for what you are looking for.

Slik pro carbon fiber in whatever series you think fits your application.

I have been pleased with my Slik 634cf paired up with a Benro s2 panhead.
Just over 3.1lbs. It’s 22” long when collapsed, but extends to 66”. I’m 6’3” and can use it standing up. Though standing up is not really necessary for hunting it’s nice for the range. S&S Archery has a couple of videos comparing a couple models on their website, and they are a sponsor of the site.
