Pyke pants sizing

Received a pair of Pyke Dakota pants as a gift from a hunting partner who wears them. Asked for my size which is 34x32 and he sent a pr of 32s saying they run large. When I tried them on the legs were tight, running tights tight. The waist was small as expected. Bag and pants tag both read 32. My legs have zero fat but not bulky, Were these mis sized by Pyke?

They have weird sizing. They say to order your size you wear in jeans, but when I did that they were like yoga pants. I had to size up. I like y pants, not wild about the fit.
