Has anyone used both the Kuiu and Kifaru pullouts? The Kifaru at lighter, but the Kuiu are waterproof. They cost about the same. Just wondering if anyone had recommendations.

Kuiu are not waterproof either. And are tiny as hell. I do like that they are offered in white though.

My disclaimer is that I own both Kifaru and Kuiu gear. I believe and from field experience that everything that I own from Kifaru is great. My Kuiu gear is hit and miss. I will not voice my selfish opinion and tell you that Kifaru is hands down the best gear I have ever owned, but it is lol. I've been running the Kifaru pull outs for a few years and they have always worked for me. Easy to separate my gear and organize. They are ultra light weight and do what I need them to do. I'm sure the Kuiu ones will work just fine but Kifaru has never let me down and is as close to bomb proof as you can get. I defiantly would never replace anything I have that's Kifaru with a Kuiu item. Hope this helps

I picked up the Kifaru pullouts. I like that they offer them in a kit with all sizes. The only thing I didn't care for was the pulls on the zippers so I replaced em with reflective orange. I'm sure the Kuiu bags are great as well but being that Kifaru is only a 25 minute drive I decided to take a stroll. I would like to see Kifaru offer the pullouts in white as well.

I switched from Kifaru pullouts to Eagle Creek pullouts. They are more square like my pack and seem to fit easier. So far I'm pretty happy with them. I have orange, blue, lime green, white and purple to really organize stuff.

Don't have any experience with the Kuiu ones but I just picked up a set of kifaru and they are really well made. The material they uses is really tough, almost shocking for how thin it is

They used to be offered in white, along with their shelters but I believe they couldn't source the material in white anymore, or didn't want to.

Could not function without my Kifaru pullouts. Have used them for years with zero issues. I also have some Eaglecreek ones as well.

After you get them situated, you can tell what's in them when you pick them up. I can tell my camera pouch from my kill kit from my possibles pouch just by picking them up, and I kow what's inside them, as I put them together.

I like prefer the size options available with Kifaru. The Kuiu pullouts are sewn to be more rectangular when full. If you are looking at "waterproof" bags, I suggest looking at OR dry sacks as one potential option. Once the Kuiu pullouts are zipped close you can still push out air, so there is still a possibility of the contents inside getting wet.

There are a lot of other manufacturers of pull out/accessory pockets other than just Kifaru and Kuiu. Stone Glacier, Mountain Laurel Designs, Seek Outside, and ZPacks, to name a few, all make these type of pockets. Jimmy Tarps may also make some, I don't know, but I'm sure there are other cottage companies that make them as well.

I like my Kifaru pullouts. Anybody tried Stone Glacier's swing out pockets? They appear to be see through.

I have the small kuiu pullout for my emergency kit and a medium for some random items. Works great and is the perfect size.

I do have a kifaru medium for my kill kit.

They both seem to work great and have had no problems so I don't think you can go wrong. I had a 50 dollar gift card to kuiu so I picked up the kuiu bags that way.

Hey guys. I've used both for a while now. According to my scale, the Kifaru are actually heavier. I think it's likely due to the paracord zipper pulls. A simple replacement with glow wire would likely make them the same weight or even closer than they already are.

The white kuiu ones are easy to see through, but honestly, like Tipsntails7 said, you can feel whats in each and tell them apart fairly easy. I have 5 Kifaru pullouts (the kit they sell) and 3 kuiu ones. I can tell all of them apart easily just by feel.

As for waterproof, no neither is waterproof as in you could submerge it for a long period of time and expect electronics inside to be fine.. However, thanks to a leaking 3L bladder, I can say that both the Kifaru and the Kuiu ones are water resistant. Had my kill kit in the kifaru one (from here) and it was dry inside, but the pullout itself was soaked. I also had my possibles in a Kuiu one and it was soaked on the outside, but the inside was dry. The bladder leaked quick enough to make standing water in the bottom of my bag for a little. Not cool.

I will say that I have deliberately tried to destroy my kifaru ones just to see what it would take to mess them up. I used the mega for 7 days worth of food and while hoisting it up a tree for a bear bag (works perfectly) I slammed it full and hard against the jagged rocks. Nothing. Not a tear, scratch, abrasion...nothing. These past 2 trips I used the XL for 5 days worth of food. I purposefully way over stuffed the pullout to see if it would tear at the seams of the zippers. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I have done the same "testing" to the kuiu ones, but they make me a little more nervous. The material feels more brittle and less stretchy than the kifaru ones. They haven't failed but I admittedly haven't been as hard on them. I have tried to tear the zippers and overstuff them, but I haven't slammed one agains a jagged rock while it was full....yet. I will update once I ruin either one of these....

I intend on doing a video review of this for those who want to see it, but the pics done by G5Archer show the kifaru ones nicely.

I just bought these as my first venture into backpack hunting trip this fall. They are a little easier on the budget. I wish they offered more sizes as the small is pretty darn small. And the next size up is my kill kit. The large holds four days worth of food.

I have used the Kifaru for 4-5 years now and just got a few of the Kuiu ones this year. I like each for different reasons and storing different items in. The Kifaru are flatter and don't stack as high or rectangularish. Kuiu is not fully waterproof and they tell you that if you call them and order because of the zipper ends. Have used the Kuiu for 20-25 days but would like a little more time with use before I comment on durability. So far no issues other than the sticky logo coming off in pieces which I don't mine because the sticky actually is a pain to try and stuff into places.

I love the Kifaru pullouts a lot, they have worked for me....although my large one does have a 1/16" hole in it from something. Don't know how it got there, definitely didn't beat it up on rocks or anything. What really bugs me about the pullouts is the shipping. I want to order a couple more but just to ship a medium bag that weighs a couple of ounces to me costs $10.50 in Cali....the freakin bag only runs $12 to start with. I have to order $1000 worth of stuff from them to make it worth my while. You could fold one up and stick it in an envelope and put a stamp on it and it would probably get here, lol.
