PSE Levitate Warning

Well sent my bow off yesterday. I’m on a bit of a time crunch between hunts so it was $150 shipped for two day. PSE is not reimbursing nor would they send me a label. The tech I have been dealing with said the shop would cover half, but come to find out he was going to front it personally because this has been handled so poorly by PSE. I won’t let him do that, so I’m out $150.

PSE would do nothing on the strings at all. The rep that works with the bow shop, works for a third party that represents PSE, not part of PSE, knows someone at rogue strings. He felt so bad he reached out and they are sending me a string/cable set, again, not on behalf of PSE.

I asked about getting an entire new bow or new riser as well since mine is marred up from the cam impact, PSE wouldn’t do it. Basically they’ve done nothing. They were going to send just an axle and cam, but the tech insisted on all new limbs and cams. Still cannot believe on the most expensive flagship bow to date they serve their customers like this. The shop even said it seems like they want to pretend it never happened and there is no issue. I’ll be posting on AT soon just to show how PSE treats their customers.
This is brutal. I have a PSE that is 7 years old and was looking to pickup one of their carbon bows next season. This alone might be enough to turn me off of that.

Nice but honestly it shouldn’t have taken that much for that result. They’re giving so many bows to influencers right now that it should be easy to send one to a paying customer
Agreed… I don’t feel warm and fuzzy about it, just glad it’s resolved.
My only real take aways were Dudley is a good dude and don’t hesitate to do business with straight6 Bozeman, both went out of their way to get me taken care of.

To me this is good news. I know it did not go through regular channels like it should have, but that is awesome that Dudley stepped up and got this taken care of like it should be done.

This is good customer service, even if it took a little beating around the bush to get it done. Good job OP, glad this is working out for you.

Update:
I wanted to try one more thing before I posted anywhere else. I reached out to Dudley via email around 9pm last night. I know he is just a face for PSE but his name is on the bow and I have always liked him. I had a personal response from him by 7am, he told me he sent it to the top at PSE, apologized and said to let him know if they did not take care of me. The VP of sales/marketing called me this afternoon, very apologetic, said this was never brought to his attention, he sent a new bow out as soon as he got the email from Dudley. They are also sending me a check to reimburse for shipping costs.
I shared my concerns that if there were more of these out there, something needed to be done before someone gets seriously injured. He explained to me because of supply chain issues, several of their suppliers had been sourcing from different places. They had received a lot of axles that were over hardened, they destroyed over 100k of them and did not put them in to production. The few that did get out they got their hands on and swapped out. He has no idea how one slipped through but agreed it was unacceptable and mishandled.
I guess moral of the story is Dudley is a stand up dude.
I'm glad it worked out for you.

I don't think John's integrity or morality should have ever been an issue here. Even if he HADN'T responded directly to you, would not make him any less of a "stand up dude". To say I've seen how stand up and sincere of a guy John is, is a HUGE understatement. Let's just take IG for instance, 1/3 of a million people follow him. Let's just say .1% reach out to him......do that math.....300 dm's of guys who need, want, or are "owed". That's a big ask.

Things to do happen. Products do fail. Always have, always will. How companies stand behind it, and react to it, are what we are really looking for. Not judging certain individuals because they are connected to said company, if they aren't directly tied to said product failure or customer service that follows.

Hopefully you get the new one set up and rocking for the imminent fall hunts.

I think you misunderstood me, if Dudley never responded I would never of even mentioned it. I mentioned he has nothing to do with it, he had no obligation to me period. He’s just doing his own thing and happens to be involved with PSE. I’ve had dealings with him before and thought it couldn’t hurt to reach out. The only reason I mentioned it was to show how he went out of his way to help. Either way I wouldn’t of thought any less of him and I would have continued to support his products. His name would have never been mentioned otherwise.

This is a cringe read. Sucks to have this experience for you or anyone at that. I’m glad to see it eventually got resolved! My local bow shop refused to sell me a levitate because of this known issue. They wouldn’t say why exactly, they just advised me against the idea due to issues they’ve experienced and said they would set me up with a custom build to fit my specifities. Good luck to everyone in the next few weeks. Hunt smart and be safe!

I think you have handled this whole thing professionally and with good restraint.

I am not surprised at all to see Dudley step up. Thru some circumstances I ended up helping John on his course at a couple of the TACs this summer. The effort he puts in is amazing and there is NO DOUBT in my mind he is 100% genuine, loves archery and bowhunting, and is the best ambassador we have had since Fred Bear; and I’m old enough to have seen Fred in action. I was very impressed with Mr. Dudley, not just his shooting ability and knowledge.

I would also assume because of his involvement this will be addressed at very high levels within PSE and they will be better for it.

Hopefully some good karma will come your way for how well you handled this awful situation.

Awesome. Well stated. Thanks for clarifying your statement. Makes sense. You are spot on. I really hope this new bow brings you much luck.

PSE Levitate- grey with subalpine limbs
80lbs- 82lbs on my scale
I had a yoke loop break on my PSE Freak a few years ago, at full draw. Needed new cams and limbs and axles, etc. All they had on the shelf was 80lb limbs. That was fine, I loved the 80lb limbs. But I'm on my 4th set of limbs now because they've all splintered. The last time they told me this was the last set of limbs they had for this bow. Two weeks ago one of my bottom limbs started to splinter. I used the 70lb limbs without issue for 3 years. I guess when you go to higher extremes at 80lbs and long draw (almost 33"), I should expect some issues. But my goodness......every set of higher pound limbs? Perhaps they don't fully test these things on the extreme fringes of higher draw weight and draw length?????

Yea that seems crazy. I agree the difference between 70 and 80lbs on components must be exponential. I had an 80lbs rx-3 that the cable splitter broke at full draw, punched myself in the mouth and sent an arrow into the unknown. Luckily the only thing that need replaced was the splitter and cables.
PSE said they test their axles at 90lbs and dry fire a couple of thousand times, who knows? The only higher poundage bow I’ve had zero issues with was a Mathews VXR 31.5 at 76lbs, going on 3 years no problems. I have high hopes for this one, guess I’ll give it one more chance and see.

You can't beat quality parts from Bomar.

I saw a levitate 70# selling for $1300 fully outfitted this morning and started to pull the trigger... I LOVE bows all brands especially PSE/HOYT and Mathews. I'll often pull a trigger on things like that.

I got a brand new one for sale! 😂 I actually like the bow but it’ll always be in the back of my mind and archery is 95% mental so moving on

Glad they ultimately did the right thing but I was considering dipping my toe into the PSE waters and this story totally turned me away.
