Right between sizes on pack frames. A 17" only gives me appx 20-30 degrees of load lifter angle, but I'm concerned the next larger size will provide too steep of an angle. What's optimum angle of straps fixed to load lifters? Thx!

I'm sure it's possible to get them too high but you're not going to going from 24" to 26" stays. On a really heavy load you will be happy to have the lift angle to give. For an example of how little it would effect you Luke and Becca swap packs all the time with 26" stays. She is NOT a towering 6'+ amazon.

The load lifters on a pack can go straight up...that's not a bad thing with a big load. The tradeoff is having a too-tall frame while hunting. That is why we use an adjustable frame pack that can be both a 24" and a 28".

Go big or stay home!! Cant go wrong with a little extra lift. Once your pack is loaded and it is sitting lower you will be glad you have room to spare.
