I’ve had custom rifles built by reputable smiths. Done my own with an orgin action with proof prefit. Very similar to a proof build. But looking for information on their complete rifles. Looking to buy an elevation MTR in 300 prc. Amy one with feed back?

I had a chance to play around with a Proof Elevation 6.5 Creed a couple years ago - it was a nice rifle and I really wanted to buy one since the price when they came out was pretty reasonable if you looked at the parts used. Proof said they would be coming out with a 7MM-08 which is what I wanted - they never did so I basically had a "faux Elevation" built in that caliber.

As far as the Proof rifle, only had one chance to shoot it at the range and it was nice, worked well and shoot pretty dang good with factory ammo. I'm sure you would be pleased with it, they do make a really nice stock.

I have the Elevation MTR in 300PRC, I received it last fall, mounted a scope on it and put it back in the safe. Winter in Alaska isn’t the most fun time to go play with a new rifle, I’ll wait until spring to put it through the paces.

Overall fit and finish, feel of the rifle is excellent and on par with my full custom build. I have said this in other threads before, but the Elevation rifles are, in my opinion, as close to a full custom you can get for substantially less money. You’ve already looked at the build list, all top notch components, I really really like the MTR stock. I wish that PROOF would use a Sendero barrel on the magnums vs the lite but I’m sure it’s fine. We will see how it shoots this spring, but I wouldn’t expect any hiccups at all. At the time I ordered mine they were right around $3000, I think they’ve gone up a touch since then. I also spent my time waiting for it sourcing brass, Berger 215s, dies, getting a couple 3 round mags, and a pile of factory ELDX and ELDM ammo.

I know a great dealer who gets them in and has an order with Proof going at all times. PM if you want his name.

Good luck.

Good info I’ll shoot you a PM. I have all the components I need to load. Just trying to decide if I wanna buy a proof rifle or not.

Just recently joined here so can’t sent s message just yet. But I’ll send you one when I am able to.

If you like the stock designs, they seem like they would be a good buy. I don't like the stock design. The stock on the elevation seems to be well made but my trigger finger is about 4" too short to be ideal with that long ass open grip. On the more vertical gripped stocks, I dont like the step in the fore end. Seems like it could be a deal breaker for mounting an arca plate.

That had me thinking as well might have to use a smaller plate up front instead of a full length rail. That’s my only problem with that rifle is the fore end and for the same reason you stated. I could piece my own together for about $800 less and run an AG stock instead

I don't know how you are going to build it for $800 less. 3k (or a bit less) for the complete rifle.

Prices from Altus:
Barrel 879
Action 875
Stock 799
Just those add up to 2550.

Well considering I can get better prices than what Altus sells them for. I also have a trigger tech diamond sitting on my bench. Price on the proof MTR is around $3500 plus tax and fees.

I love it!

I need to use that math when justifying a gun purchase to my spouse. "If I already bought it (in the past) it doesn't count toward my new build". Don't forget BDL bottom metal, etc.

Lots of Proof's for sale at 3K, taxes are included in everything unless you really like chatting with the IRS :)

I bought an Elevation MTR last year in 300 PRC and have been very happy with it. Shoots anything I put in it well. Load development was a breeze. I have several custom rifles and in my opinion the only thing this rifle lacks is cerekote compared to my full custom builds. For the money this is about as good of value as you can get. I like the fact that if I ever had a problem with it, I can send it back to Proof - their customer service has been exemplary based on my experience.

This rifle is coming to Kodiak with me next month for a goat hunt. So far I've only had it out chasing moose from a jet boat. Looking forward to getting some more time in the field with it.

I did not like the big AICS magazine and bottom metal that it came with and swapped it out for the Hawkins Hunter DBM which makes it more if a hunting rifle in my opinion.

Fatbacks, send me your load data if you don’t mind! I have a ton of factory ammo but also have brass and Berger 215s ready to go, you might save me some time : ) I also wasn’t a fan of the large mag, but didn’t swap out the DBM to Hawkins yet, but I did buy the 3 round Accurate mags and that made enough difference for me that I’ll likely stick with it. Can you get 3 in the Hawkins DBM?

Yes, the three rounds fit in the Hawkins Mag... I think the whole setup dropped about 6 oz off the rifle. PM inbound on load - The load I developed was with the Barnes 200 gr LRX as a brown bear load. If I want frangible I just run the factory 212 Gr ELDx because it shoots so well.

I just placed an order for the exact rifle and cartridge but in black granite. should be here soon! I too had the same feelings about the stock magazine and Proof mentioned I could switch to the hunter bottom metal. how difficult was it to make the switch? great looking rifle by the way!

Thanks! Just swap out the bottom metal... easy as that. The Hawkins Hunter Mag requires slight modifiaction to work with Zermatt actions. Give them a call and they will walk you through it.
