Recently acquired the rifle. Mounted a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44, the Salmon River Solutions three port brake and zeroed it. My impressions on the combo;
-Fit, finish and function on the rifle is great. No issues whatsoever. Some have made negative comments about the stock, specifically the grip shape. It's long but I don't mind it. Zermatt action is smooth. Total weight is 7 lbs 14 oz..
-So far, I'm shooting it 3/4" average using some factory Hornady Precision Hunter 200 gr ELD-X that I have on hand. I'm sure that I can tighten this up with time and the right bullet/powder combo. The reality is it probably shoots better than I do.
-The Z5 is clear, crisp and fairly lightweight, 15.9 oz. Dialing range is limited but sufficient for my use. Low Warne Mountain Tech rings.
-This is my first experience with a side ported brake. I've tried the radial style (Christensen) previously but ended up removing it as the 6.5 Creedmoor's recoil just didn't warrant it. The Salmon River self timing brake mounts easy, looks good and works very well. Yes, it's loud. No shooting without ear protection anymore. Easy enough to do on the range but will take some figuring in the field...no more snap shots? But man, the recoil reduction on the 300 Win Mag is amazing.
