So I will be using my proof research elevation 308 this year on my elk hunt. 20” barrel and 1:10 twist. My plan was to run the 185gr Berger classic hunter. Thoughts? It’s a new rifle so all I’ve done is punch paper with 175gr Sierra match king which it runs beautifully.

The one piece of advise I would give is this: if you haven't already, shoot whatever round you plan on using without a rifle sled (such as the one pictured). You have a nice group there, but if its not shot how you would in the field its not actually going to be all that helpful. The 175gr SMKs may shoot great off the sled, but when you shoot them off a backpack or bipod it may be a different story. If you've already done this, disregard.

I'm switching from Partitions / A-frames to the new 175 grain Federal Terminal Ascent this year in my .308 for elk season. Might be worth a look.

I killed two elk with the 168 hybrid hunters out of exact same rifle. If I was setting up just for elk, accubonds are hard to beat.

175 Terminal Ascents are easy to find in .308 right now. I'd at least buy a box and try them
