Just got my AK moose medicine rifle for this coming September with Jeremy Reusink of Rogue Expeditions. Rifle is a Proof Research through Evolved Ballistics. I haven’t had a chance to personally shoot it yet but I’m sure I will not be disappointed.
Rifle specs.
Proof Research Tac 2
28 Nosler
Defiance Deviant Hunter action
26” Proof Sendero
APA little bastard
Jewel trigger 1.75#
Hawkins Ultralight tactical rings
Nightforce 2.5-20x50 NX8
Berger 180 VLD-H at 3125 with 80 gr N570

I’m looking forward to putting a few rounds down range and hopefully finish up a moose slam with a AK/YK moose this Sept.

That looks like it will be a serious moose hammer - congrats and good luck! So does this mean you don't need that slick Glacier Ti anymore:D
I’m thinking this is a pretty nice Duo for just about everything!!! But still considering a 300 Win to round out the trio. Lol

Great rifle!

That Jewel will screw you someday. It did it to me on a big Idaho Moose and then again on a whitetail buck.
Thanks. I’ve never had a issue out of any Jewell triggers but also I know that I dont shoot or hunt near as much as you. May eventually change them out for TT diamonds. The two Proof rifles I own both already had Jewels in them so I just went with them.

That rifle sure is a looker! The spec sheet and target certainly do look amazing.

I'm with Ryan. In 10 years of guiding elk hunters, I only saw 2 triggers fail and both were Jewels. They are a great bench trigger but from my experience, they can have issues in the field. Good luck with your new friend. I would highly agree with your thought to add a .300 WM.

Is that rifle throated to shoot the 195 Berger EOL's as well? My buddy and I have had good luck with the 195's on moose, but I'm sure the 180 will work as well.

Yes. I can shoot the 195 in it as well. I opted for the 180 because I’ve killed quite a few critters with them including a big Canada moose and have had no issues with them.

Well I decided this won’t be my moose medicine. However I did get a chance to finally shoot it today and am quite happy!! D74F0173-6E22-41CD-8988-9DFF0BA4E0B1.jpeg28303264-1899-4F4F-AA88-12C80BBD209B.jpegAAAF54AF-B7AA-4D3F-886E-3B988685F386.jpeg

Why’d you decide not to use it for moose?

Btw, Jeremy is a great guy!

There is a possibility of a Grizzly tag along with the moose. So I’m opting for a 300 Win Glacier. A little handier rifle for the possible situations.

Yes I hunted Sitka Blacktail with him two years ago. Jermey is a great guy.

Nice rifle and shooting for sure. Im going to have to check them out.
Looking forward to you trip report when you get back. Best of luck

Hard to complain with a .25 MOA group either way I’m damn happy.

0.42 is mighty fine too.
