I need some advice from guys that have dealt with custom gun builders?
I don’t want to say the name right now bc they could see this and do the person even worse and it will also affect me.
So a rifle was order and the builder said 3 weeks max but now we are about to go on 5 months and the builder just doesn’t give a crap.
He just says he can’t get a barrel which is a big lie.
How do I know? A call was made to the barrel company and the exact barrel that the guy says he’s been waiting on for 5 months is on the shelf in numbers that have no ones name on them. Meaning they are for sale to the next person.
When the builder was called out on it he said, without giving two craps that he had been paid 3000 dollars was, that’s all the info I can give you, im waiting on them to ship the barrel.
he finally got tired of the calls once a month bc he had never called and agreed to put a portion of the money towards another rifle so I found one from r bros that I want. He didn’t like that idea and
I shouldn’t have listened to the guy even though it wouldn’t have changed anything but I agreed on a rifle and he supposedly ordered it.
I’m in Texas and this gun is coming from a place that is 2 or 3 days max shipping time and now he’s doing the same damn thing.
At the time he said it would be here the following week, well 3-1/2 weeks later he’s yet to get a shipping confirmation. So now I’m in over 4K for a rifle that sells for 2600 and getting the runaround again.
What do I do?
He’s saying there is no refunds bc it’s a build but there has to be an amount of time that passes that in unreasonable? Right?
If a customer came into my shop and I charged him for material and cnc machine time and my time plus cad and cam programming and took his money but never gave the customer his product I would feel like a sorry piece of shit. Sorry for the language but I would.
I mean I can’t say I’m going to build you this and you have to pay in full in advance but I just keep leading the customer along till I die whether you are a gun builder, carpenter or welder.
But and here’s a big but, there could be laws that I know nothing about that is keeping this guy from doing what I think is right.
I have no idea. I’m not a gun builder. I’m a self taught manual and cnc machinist and welder which doesn’t have to many laws or oversight working against it.
I read that maybe a complaint with the Texas attorney general would be something that could be done but not sure of the effectiveness bc I mine as well just do a consumer goods complaint which does nothing.
.
What’s y’all’s thoughts on this?
