I think this is the correct way to ask this question ...comparing primaloft with down, what is comparable in warmth to a 650 fill down puffy? I'm allergic to down.

The 650 rating of down refers to the quality of the down...not how warm it will be. A 650 down jacket might be just as warm as an 800 fill....it all depends on how much of the 650 or 800 down is put into the jacket. The down used in a 650 jacket is less fluffy..Requiring more feathers to fill the space...making it heavier and less packable than an 800.
Take a look at down sleeping bags. You can buy a 650 and an 800 down bag that are both rated for 20 degrees. The 800 bag will be lighter, compress smaller and cost more...but both bags are equally as warm.

There are several primaloft jackets out there that use varying amounts of insulation. Sitka Kelvin Lite is 60 grams, cabelas passage jacket is 100 grams, and the Sitka Kelvin is 170 grams.

Primaloft uses different grades as well....just like with down. Primaloft One is lighter and more packable than primaloft sport or Eco...etc.

I'd say you can't go wrong with the Sitka Kelvin. ..As it uses 170 grams of primaloft sport. I just bought a Cabelas Passage jacket on sale for $48...so you can't go wrong there either. Maybe buy both for varying temperatures and applications.
