Pressure Signs? Please share your insight.

Hello hand loaders...I wanted to pick your brains again if I may. I've recently worked up some new 28 nosler loads using published data for Barnes TTSX 150gr. bullets. I've uploaded images of the published data and my personal findings. I know there are many indicators of pressure but I'd like to know if you experienced loaders see any issues. Also, I'm seeing that my chronographed speeds surpass the published max load speeds beginning at .004 below max. How hard should I stick to three published speeds? Test barrel and my barrel are both 24". Thank you all!

What do you mean by. 004 below max? As far as the speed it could be a number of things from a different lot of powder, a faster barrel or different brass with less capacity. With no pressure signs I would pick the most accurate load and run with it.

No experience with the 28, but the brass pics look fine. What was the charge in the pics? Are you seeing any ejector marks or a heavy bolt? I would not worry about the chrono. Are you just looking for pressure, or have you shot any for groups?

I haven't shot anything for accuracy yet. I only worked up pressure test loads before exploring accuracy trends. The pics are max load. There is one piece of brass that I can BARELY distinguish an ejector mark... and I mean barely. It won't even pic up in the picture. Interestingly I only noticed it on the the lightest load.

I also should note that I'm using Retumbo. Fed 215 primers. Nosler brass

I'd see how it shoots and what velocity is and go from there.

I'm not the best person to ask about pressure signs, but I'm not seeing an issue with what you have there.

Ok, I would grab a couple of loads with no signs of pressure, load 3 of each, and shoot for group size. If neither is acceptable, I would repeat with a different powder, as I assume you want to run the bullet you listed. If a group is acceptable, I would load 10-15 and shoot for a higher-round-count group to establish your system's cone of dispersion.

I always have a goal for my velocity, but I won't sacrifice accuracy for speed.
