Prefilter for Aquamira

What are folks using as a prefilter for aquamira to get the floaties out? It was so cold last year we were constantly worried about keeping our water filters from freezing so I’m considering going the chemical route this season.

Bandannas seem to be a popular choice but I’d rather use something that will dry quickly so I’m looking into more mesh/screen type options

I use the Steripen prefilter that screws to the top of a Nalgene. Used it for about 5 years with no issues.

How much floaties are you talking about?

I've used aquamira drops quite a bit and have never used a prefilter for floaties. I've never tried to use it with sludgy water, but I have had some particulate in it and it seemed to work fine.

TBD, as I’m not sure what the water sources look like where we’re going but I’m not a big fan of having a bunch of stuff floating around in my water

0.5 microns?? That's nearly complete sterile filtering. I don't know if it would do viruses, but all bacteria for sure

I use a bandana. gets most of the crap out, the rest is just added flavor.
