Preferred wood arrow stain/seal methods

Speaking of target burn. Beginning in August all of my practice is at 3D targets and some arrow finish/foam combos are almost welded together until I started using wax on the arrow, at least the front half. Paste wax or a block of beeswax works well if you rub it down afterwards. Spray Pledge or Armorall will work but usually needs more frequent applications and the spray has more smell.

There have been times I thought I would need a come-along to pull arrows but it's usually the cheaper foam used in the targets (not all Rinehart foam is the same, beware of their cheap deer targets)
Yep, I use Johnson paste wax.

Ive been really happy with the True North products as well

Dip tube em
Hang dry
3 coats
Fletch tape feathers on and duco cement the tips and tails of the feathers

Wipe on poly, 2 coats gloss, one coat matte (scotch brite between coats). Fletch tape for feathers, fletch-tight at the ends and nocks. Dip tube for color. Most any stain works, I liked the minwax stuff. Screw a dozen wood clothes pins to a 2x4 to hang the shafts from too dry (cut one leg shorter to be able to screw to 2x4).

Made a homemade dip tube with pvc, and use polyacrylic. Duco for fletching and nocks.. hot melt from Big Jim’s for tips. Has held up well.
