Predator thermal clip on

Just picked up a 6.5 PRC with a NX 3-18 Night Force. We have a good amount of coyotes on the farm we’re trying to eradicate. Typically shots are under 400 yards on our property. Any suggestions for a clip on, preferably under $2,000?

I was looking into AMG and DNT, but open to suggestions.

You will need a lower power scope. I have the dnt hydra 384 and 400 I can make out a coyote i have the range finder version which you have to have. I have not heard good things about clips ons unless you go way up in your budget.

I tried my DNT 635 as a Clip on to my Maven RS1.2.. it was a nonstarter. I think you'll need a LVPO or just get a new gun and dedicate it to a thermal. If you are going quick disconnect, I have heard good things about ADM quick disconnects.

I am my father in law has a pulsar with the 640 and i dont feel im missing out. Its amazing how close they come at night. The first one i shot i thought was 100ish yards away then i ranged it and it was 35 yards so the range finder is huge. Here is a clip on that works good but get ready for sticker shock.

Im going to be trying a Sig CV 25 with my Trijicon credo hx 2.5-15x56. Having a 2x magnification low end would probably be better for the wider FOV. But I think this setup will work.

For the cost of the sig i would have a dedicated gun and scope that has better performance. Have to add the cost of a range finder so almost 6 grand

Yea maybe. With the 22-250 being so flat shooting im not worried about the range finder. And the Sig should hold value better with the lifetime warranty.

I was of the same thinking but you have 0 depth perception through the thermal at night and it will cost you dogs. They are charging double for a 640 you can get into really good 1280 with a range finder for that price so the value even with the warranty will be really low. Its not my money though so let us know how it goes

FWIW, I've been "night hunting" since 2000 and along the way have used kill lights, Digital Night Vision and have Thermal Optics in Resolutions of 256, 384 and 640.
I probably have more than 500 kills using DNV and Thermal in the last 10 years.

IMHO, you will not be happy with a thermal clip-on mounted on the rig you describe in your OP.

You want a dedicated Thermal optic. These days most have a mount that is quick detach and return to zero and have different profiles that allow one to pre-zero for different distances or other rifles.

Both thermal and Digital Night Vison have their strengths and weaknesses. That is another topic.

I have found these guys to be credible and they have 417+ episodes discussing the topic night vision and Thermal. They don't show a lot of kills. Rather they educate one as to what the pros and cons of the different optics and what each optic or class of optics and who that optic is good/not good for.

I bought mine from @ZeroFoxGiven on here and he was great help. I didnt really think i needed a scanner either but i was wrong again and a helmet set up will be in my future
