Iv been using the same rifle for killing dogs for 12 years. Remington R15 in .204

I think im going to swap the scope to a LPVO and potentially swap the rail to something lighter with a arca rail.

How far does the .204 reliable drop yotes? I was thinking of building an upper in 20 Practical. I'd probably use the 40 gr vmax. TIA

I shot the yote with my M4 I built and 55gr Nosler BT's in Central Oregon. The badgers I shot this year with the HBAR I built and 53 gr VMAX's. Both rifles have 1-9" twist. I swapped out the HBAR for a 20" Colt 1-7" two weeks ago. 1699456196358.jpeg1699456163743.jpeg

Iv killed dogs out to 400. But if your consistently shooting that far I’d step to a bigger bullet. Im seriously considering building an 18” 22creed bolt gun for the fun of it. That new hornady 62g VT bullet would be a laser beam and crazy explosive on dogs

Gotcha. I think I'll stick with my AR15 using the 73 or 75 ELDM out to 500-600 yards. My 260 AI for everything past that. I'm pretty excited to see that new ELD-VT though.

Yeah I like the 204 just because it’s so fast. At 300 i have like 6” of drop. I kill all my dogs calling so I just hold on hair and let it rip. Typically I don’t have time to range and dial/hold.

I'm not great at calling and the dogs out here are pretty well educated. I spot them on the move at 900 yards. I do catch the occasional one close on the run. I'll try calling them this year. But driving around last year I've seen as many as 12 in 2 hours. That 20 Practical is pretty flat shooting so that's why i was considering one. Thanks for the info!

This year I think the 260ai will be taken out for some spot and stalk/ambush dogs. Been working on cold bore hits being much more important once the load building was done. May go for a p.r. on distance for dogs this year. As well as this has been shooting.

Maybe get @Formidilosus and @Ryan Avery out with some 6um's possibly a 22um

Dusted off the ugly duckling. This was my first coyote rifle. I got bored with it and stuck it in the safe the last 2 years. Pulled it out and went to verify zero.. yeah still ready to roll. I did add the cheek rest, wish I had added years ago.

Kimber of Oregon. .223 mostly sits in the safe but I like looking at it and shooting once in awhile. It'll do the work. Sometimes I feel guilty leaving it at home.

I prefer my Tikka for a wider range of game. Even my 18" 1:8 AR.

My 260ai has one coyote beyond 1500 to it's credit.
