Any resources on this topic that you like, books or podcasts? I would like to know more about the intersection of game management, predator re-introduction, impact on prey, economics, etc.

Great book is the Alaska’s Wolf man, it follows the life of a trapper who turns into a gov trapper, and relays a lot of insight on wolf/ prey interactions and what how wolves are like. I would classify it as maybe the best non biased source Frank Glaser the author clearly loves wolves but he doesn’t sugar coat what they are or how they behave. As far as economics or re-intro that would be harder. Dan gates talks about this some I think

I’m sure there are some podcasts from those in Idaho/ Montana who have been dealing with reintro since the 80’s, here in Co it’s only been a couple years and the fund to compensate ranchers is already bankrupt if that tells you anything

I mean as far as economic impact from predator reintro. I can say confidently it will crush state game agency budgets. For example here in Co. CPW will cut 10% of elk and deer tags anywhere a wolf pack gets established. So if they get established across the state you are talking about 10’s of thousands of tags cut to feed the wolves which would translate to millions of dollars every year. Not to mention when the packs are causing deer and elk to dip below management goals then further cuts would be made.

I temember when they reintroduced coyotes east of Mississippi in the 70s.

No idea what the intoduce predators thing is all about. Especially the big bears. Kill em all.
