I will be hunting black bear in the midwest and would like to use a predator call to lure them in. Where I hunt I won't be able to place a traditional bait pile, however I can use scents (like burning bacon grease, honey, anise, etc...).

Do you think it is beneficial to use a predator call in conjunction with a scent attractant? This could potentially titillate their sense of smell, and hearing, instead of just one or the other. Or would it be best I just stick to one or the other at a time?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Well, any luck. I've never used any of that stuff, but my hunting partner just bought some. He asked if he could use it this week. I said in would get back to him. Still not sure if it is a good idea or not. Bears are spooky critters, a new smell might drive them away vs peaking their curiosity and bringing them in. Jury is still out.
