I have a Model 70 270 built in 1959, the stock shows a little use but the barrel and action are in great shape, it doesnt have the steel but plate. Im wondering the value or how much I could expect to get for it if I decided to sell.

I think handwerk hit it pretty good. I was going to say $750.00-$900.00 depending on condition of wood, action, barrel and all original parts.

wyo-gasman,
This looks like a classic and not a featherweight to me. If the metal butt plate has been replaced with a recoil pad the value may be decreased slightly. My opinion is based on a visit to the largest gun show I have ever heard of in Tulsa,Ok back in 2013. I found venders that specified in Pre-64 Model 70's with prices from $950 -$1800. Some of the lower priced rifles were in very poor condition. The sellers may have built in some "wiggle room" by listing them at a higher price. Depending on the caliber, I would ask a little more than $1000 for your rifle at a minimum. I'm found of these rifles and maybe I'm a bit bias. Good luck with your choice. LaGriz

To corroborate what others have said if I owned that rifle and I wanted it gone that 850$ seems about right. I think gun show prices are always inflated, I go to the one in Tucson and Phoenix quite abit. Most money you'll get for it would be local private sale or auction.

The gun store downtown Cheyenne seems pretty fair with used guns and prices.cannot for the life of me remember the name but it's on the east side of down town on the Southside of the main drag. Got stuck on a long string down that way a few years back and we stopped in there for awhile.

Look it up on sale prices on "Gunbroker".com or other sites and you can see what they sell for. I bought a pre-64 rifle for $600 dollars a year ago to salvage the action for a build. Ones like you have can go for a good price if you find the right guy.
