How many here have 16"-16.5 (Even 17" info appreciated) 6.5 PRC's, shooting 130-140 grain bullets?
With these bullet weights in mind, I am considering H-4350, H-4831sc and RL 26.
Actual velocities with the brass/powder/bullet combinations you have would be appreciated.
I have all three of the powders listed above

I would imagine they will be disappointing velocity wise. I have a 20" bbl. run 140's between 2750 and 2880. I have a good friend in Texas, I will reach out to him and see if he chronographed his Bergara it has a 16" bbl.

Thank you.
Powder you are using with your 20"?

Please let me know the powder/bullet weight/MV if possible.
18" factory ammo: 143's run 2818 with one rig.

IMR4831, just got some Magpro going to give it a try. Have H1000 also.

Browning XBolt long range 26”.
I know it works great for longer barrels...I am looking for the better powders for 16" performance levels.
H-1000 may be one of them, but I am thinking it won't be the best. Time will tell.
I have used it before with 130 grain bullets in 18" barrels with good success.

My pard in Texas says he's getting 2940 with Hornady factory. 16 inch Bergara suppressed.

My pard in Texas says he's getting 2940 with Hornady 143 ELD-X factory ammo. 16 inch Bergara suppressed.
My 18" 6.5 PRC with the same Hornady 143 ELD-X factory ammo gets 2858.
That is really surprising.
Not saying the information is not accurate, but I have never seen a 16" 6.5 PRC run that fast with factory 143's ammo-Good For Him!
Thanks for the information.

I have not either, but have seen some weird velocity changes shooting through different suppressor's. and of course chronograph inconsistency's. I am always reading about short bbl's except for the convenience of carrying a shorter rifle with suppressor, I don't get it. Chop 6.5 CM and get somewhere around the mid 2500's kind of defeating the purpose to me JMHO. When I first got my 6.5 PRC, only ammo available was Norma match. 143's averaged 2640 or so through my Labradar 20 in. The 4831 loads were better, now like I said earlier Magpro and H1000 are around again. Time to start working up a faster load.

I have always used barrels from 14" to 18", since I shoot and hunt with specialty pistols.
I am Not looking for efficiency.
I am looking for a performance level with a given barrel length, bullet, and chambering choice.
If, I want more horsepower, I up the cartridge case capacity.
Since guys are using shorty's now more, mainly because of suppressor popularity, so I am trying to get info on short barrel set-ups.
Typically, it has been the other way around.
My guess is that Reloder 26 is going to be the best secret sauce for my project, but I am always open to what someone has found to work well.

What would happen if you went to a radical change of fast powders such as w-760 , 4350, etc., just asking ?
