Powder Selection for 300WM with a 22" Barrel

OP, with the new barrel it's an entirely new/different chamber, barrel rifling/dimensions, you shouldn't be surprised you got over pressure. That is an entirely new system you are working with. By the same token if velocity had fallen off dramatically, taking in consideration the shorter barrel, you shouldn't be surprised either. It goes both ways. I'm shocked no one has mentioned that and everyone went right into talking load data.

I'm not sure what criteria you're using, but RL16 is considered to be one of the most temp stable powders out there.
My apologies. I just read up on it a bit more. I had seen some tests that stated users were seeing 0.5-1.5fps swings in velocity per degree of temp. I think they were referring to RL15. I had decent luck with RL22 previously, but that ones also appears to be one of the worst when it comes to temp stability. I'll have to check pricing on the RL16. I saw a jug of RL22 at one of my local shops last week for $100. Makes me sick to think that just a year or two ago I was paying half that for the same bottle.
