Poulan 20” Chainsaw $99

I have about ten saws, almost all Huskys (log home builder)
I once needed a small saw immediately and bought a Poulan
figuring it was disposable. Still have it. Very dependable and good starting.

You know why they're called Poulan? You poulan and poulan and poulan it and it still won't start.
Haha 👍
Actually the Poulan starts as well or better than some of my Huskys
The older Huskys are best but the newer “planet-saving” ones really suck.

Was it a wild thing?
I like the old carbed saws, but have also come to appreciate the autotune saws for ease of use in different conditions without needing to tune.

Tried to buy one shortly after the original post, out of stock at all the stores within like a 50 mile radius of me. Bummer.

Not a Wild Thing. I'm sure it's a good 15 years old or so.

Newer huskys would refuse to start when hot out (85+ and sunny)
Have to set them in the shade between startups.

I grew up with a dad that was super cheap......not frugal.......CHEAP. We had a Poulan, a McCullough, and a Craftsman saw. We spent a lot more time working on those dang saws than actually getting any work done. In the early 90's I bought a Stihl. That thing has gotten a ridiculous amount of use over the years, and it still starts and runs every time. From my experience I'd pay extra for something else than a Poulan.

It all depends on what and how it will be used.
For many homeowners a Poulan is all they need.
For many a cordless sawzall would do the job.
