Hey ya'll thanks for the knowledge.

I was told by a couple of guys that they use different variations of covered carports for their base camp shelters/cabins....so I wanted to see what and if that is a good option for the first hunt?

thanks.

Here are pics of my base camp. I rough it but not really rough it. I bring some carpet for the floor, air mattress with stand, shower, freezer. Blah blah blah. If you're gonna be gone from home for a month then it's very important to keep yourself as comfortable as possible. The hard part for me is figuring in how much propane I will go through. I am thankful that I can take my tanks down the mountain and get em filled at the gas station that is close to where we camp.

This is only for one (me), so I don't need it to be too fancy......but it is comfortable.

My Herder is the 12x12, easy setup solo-once you have done it. Set 4 stakes for corners- tie off as a temp, set the center pole, fix corners, then stake out the rest- takes me about the same as my wall tent when doing solo- 20-30 min max.

Edit- FWIW its a great tent but if I had it to do over I might just get a 10x12 wall tent as there is more head room.
