Portable Shooting Bench

Tired of waiting for the public range to be open, looking at portable shooting benchs. What do you recommend? Would i better off just to build my own? etc.

I use a Caldwell Stable Table Lite and don't have any major complaints. If you're a really big guy it may be too tight for you.

I built a takedown aluminum one. 6'4 so most were to small for my frame. Hate squeezing down and having the recoil punish my lower back LOL. I had a RCBS one years ago but it was wobbley.

I thought there was a recent thread on this, but I cannot find it. I use the Caldwell Stable Table when I am sighting in on the farm. The plastic turn knobs are fairly cheap and one of them has stripped out on me so I cannot disassemble it right now. But, I can still keep the base in one piece and take off the top, so it is fairly easy to move in and out of the barn. The metal hardware feels sturdy. The plastic top is comfortable and doesn't get too hot in the sun. It is plenty stable when I am sitting on it and I shoot well from it. I like that I can adjust the seat height to change the angle for shooting on or off bags, or shooting at targets slightly further up the hill. So, on the whole, it is not terrible. Eventually I will get around to replacing the plastic knob with something more sturdy.

If you found one on sale or have a good veteran/first responder discount, I think it is okay.

I am 5'10", 175# and it can fit me just fine. I can also adjust it for my 4'4" 72# daughter.

I have shot off of a Sportsmans guide one. It is similar to a ironing board and folds up nice. it is pretty stable.

I find it more comfortable to use a square table and shoot modified prone. Most shooting tables force you to use a body position that I don’t use for any other shooting position. I can shoot modified prone off a bench or a table and if feels like I would if I were prone, and my body position isn’t forced to be bladed to the rifle.
