Porky rifle wanted

In the market for a stainless rifle with a good stiff stock, trigger that can be made good, that isn’t ported and comes in at around 7 lbs without optics… I still hunt and a heavy rifle (which 7 lbs ain’t really) holds steadier offhand than a featherweight. Ideas under $2k?

Don’t care for savage. I have been surprised that the non-fluted tikkas are hard to come by now. Prefer bolt guns but eying a Ruger Marlin and having it sent off for a trigger job.

The rest of the mainstream manufacturers have gone to chip prone cerakoted in place of stainless barreled actions and just about everything has hearing aid enducing muzzle brakes on
mouse fart recoiling cartridges (6.5 sniper special etc). At least they shoot twice as accurate as they need to be out to reasonable hunting distances. Progress.

I guess getting old is longing for rifle styles available 10 years ago and spending Johnny’s college fund on something custom to get what you want.

I have a Winchester m70 extreme weather stainless steel rifle in 30-06. It’s not super heavy but it’s definetly not a mountain rifle.

May be able to find a sako that fits the bill. one of their walnut stocked models. That's probably what I'd do.

Or you could find a stainless hunter or stainless laminate Tikka. Those are closer to 7 lbs and are probably available online.

That's my only ideas. I hear the Winchester extreme ss is very nice also as mentioned above

Could do a Tikka and put it in a heavier stock for under 2k.

Well not sure what you "really" want but stainless action/barreled isn't hard to find. Might be more difficult to find your choice caliber or stock style.

Seekins Precision PH1 SA (pick your own caliber) under 7lbs:
With optics/rings/muzzle device I'm still under 10lbs.
Fits what you are asking for from what I can decipher.
