I have 2 threaded rifles right now. A 16.5 300blk and a howa mini 6arc 20” I’ve decided it’s time to get a can, i was wondering if anyone has shot a 6arc with a 30 cal can and could point me in the right direction. I will be shooting the 6arc the most out of the 2 guns and do not want to buy 2 cans but if the sound difference between the 30 cal can and 6mm can is negligible then I’d like to have one that will fit both guns.

This question is hard due to the different use case of cartridges you’re trying to suppress. While some cans suppress subsonics super well, it might not be great at suppressing full strength centerfire rounds such as a 6ARC. This goes vice versa as well.

Is your 6 ARC a gas gun? Or a bolt? This also can play a factor. With gas guns really you’re getting something that’s low back pressure.

What I like to tell people is, in an ideal world you buy suppressors to fit each use case/host. Unfortunately, cans are not cheap. Even with the 0$ tax. So, if you only wanted to buy one can and didn’t have any experience with suppressors before I would get something that suppresses supersonic bullets well and does ok with subsonics. That’s where you’re going to notice the biggest difference, since subsonics are already fairly quiet.

I would suggest looking at pewscience.com and filtering by 308 data at ear, then 300black out sub sonic data by ear and using the cross reference of data on the same suppressors to give you an idea.

To directly answer your question: I do not have a 6 arc but I do shoot a regular full size 6mm polo in on my 243 and have been pleasantly surprised with it. As someone who’s been fortunate enough to try lots of cans on different set ups over the years it’s acceptable noise reduction to MY ears for hunting purposes.

Hope this helps!

I shoot a Polo 30 on my .30-06 and a 5.56 AR and it's good for both.

Personally, I've never even considered getting a regular one. The 30 is a really good all around performer.
