We have the biggest real ice fishing tournament in the country here. 525 teams on lake Oahe and rangers are 10 to1 over all other brands.

Polaris owners are very defensive. They all tell you, if you take care of it, and don’t abuse it, they are fine. Well, I abuse my Honda’s and don’t take care of them and I have NO issues. I have an 07 Foreman Rubicon and a 16 Pioneer 1000. I’ll give up creature comforts and squishy ride for bulletproof reliability any day. Especially when I am 20 miles from the truck. And personally, I hate belt driven vehicles.
Definitely something to be said for direct drive! A Honda will not leave you stranded!

I have a Ranger Crew, can't remember the year but pretty sure it's around 2008. I put it through hell during duck season. It's only job is to take us in and out of flooded rice/corn/bean/moist soil fields that are nasty thick mud, typically 2-5 people riding, gun/gear, and anywhere from 5 - 10 dozen decoys. If it makes it through what I put one through, it will make it around the house hauling stuff and driving on hard (beat up) roads.

At my club, the vast majority run Polaris Rangers.

Its weird how noone here's gotten defensive...

Look how many Polaris you see being touted on here. Look how many you see in the field. Nuff said.

I would also add dont go rzr if you go side by side the beds on them are not ment to haul stuff and almost all of them get very very hot

Noone here has mentioned it, but Polaris makes a General now. Kind of a hybrid between the Rzr and Ranger. It has a bigger bed than an RZR

I've had a ranger for a few years, 4-6 seater kind. It's been very reliable and seems like it could climb a tree if we had better tires on it! It is not the smoothest riding machine and definitely not very peppy. To compliment that, the turning radius is probably comparable to a cruise ship! However it has never failed to fire right up, climb any log/hill/rock, slog through any swamp, etc. Rugged work horse IMO. My brother has a Terex which is way more fun to drive but not nearly as stable(?) or utility(?) capable.

Ok, buy a Polaris. Next time I won‘t post and offend anyone. Enjoy the belt. It’s a very nice vehicle, very comfortable.

‘19 XP 900 here. Almost 1000 miles on it. No issues yet and haven’t even changed the belt. I regularly use at -20° to plow in AK. The heater is awesome. Aftermarket support for that Ranger cannot be matched.

Yesterday caribou hunting with the boy:

Post away with your experience. I was merely pointing out the lack of defensiveness.
I borrowed one for an elk hunt about 8-10 years ago. Broke a front axle and burned a belt in one week. Biggest POS vehicle I have ever used. It was a Ranger 800. I have also been in plenty of 900s in steep california coastal country. Not flat land or high desert type terrain, but very steep, tight country With lots of loose traction. They are like driving with a broken transmission. Constantly feel like the belt is slipping, and the constant high rpm rev is beyond annoying. The auto 4wd system doesn’t work well compared to an actual engaged driveline with true lockers. When I want to hammer the throttle, the belt slips A bit instead of locking in and engaging. Like I said, I find them to be very nice, comfortable vehicles with tons of creature comforts. They fall very short when it comes to performance in my experience. Maybe the newer models have improved.
if I was buying a belt driven vehicle, I would be a Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT. That machine is a tank.

I didn't think Polaris anything was known for reliability.
