The guy born 15 years later has a chance to draw a top end tag in OR, WY, UT, AZ, ID, and NM.
That's what new hunters can look forward to, simply a slight chance to draw.

The pressure for changing the game will only continue to grow.

So you are saying that point systems make it more fair because it evenly distributes tags? I wouldn't say it even distributes anything, it does the direct opposite. It gives preference or better probability to those that have more points.

I don't see how its a problem to want anything now when a point system artificially push it out. That is like telling your kid that you can give them 100 bucks now or in two weeks and then calling them selfish because they take it now. Its not worth anything more in two weeks then it is now.

I also fully understand that under random system I could go a lifetime with out drawing a tag. I am willing to take that risk for an increased chance of drawing it today.

It is fair to the guy that has been putting in for 10 years because they had the exact same chance of drawing as the other guy did.

Preference system are trash I 100% agree with you guys I’m all for a bonus system like Montana everyone name goes in 1 hat and we draw if I got more points name is in the hat more time it isn’t this I have waited my turn in line garbage. A lot of people are really gonna complain about this if buzz gets his way in Wyoming and they go 90-10 considering like 31k people had preference points this year and a little over 3000 applied in that state

Colorado is easy to pick on because they have the worst system with pure preference. How "fair" is it that a 30 year old guy with no point will never have a chance, ever, to draw a NW CO tag. Or that the only chance a 12 year old kid has to ever draw is to out live all his peers? It's absurd to champion such things.

Bonus point systems are better than a preference point, I will give you that but all point systems are trash.

Simply because you have managed to breathe longer on this earth than someone else, you feel that you are owed more than the other person is all a points system of any kind is.

I wont even add in that the more points some gets the more they feel they are owed (Montana squaring points is the best example). Please explain to me how I am the one that is selfish for wanting a pure random draw in my state.

I don’t feel I’m owed anything but I know if Wyoming switched it right now I would be wanting all the license money I’ve spent over the last ten years back I’m a year or two out from the tag I’ve been chasing that I’ve spent a lot of money on to get to this point how fair is it to drop back to a 5% draw odd so everyone is equal sounds like some socialist b.s. to me

Clearly you feel you're owed back license money.
I haven't found a state yet that said they wouldn't alter the system. That's part of it, you can go along or drop out.

Oh so we cant change it because you are too "invested" in the system. So **** everyone behind me, as long as I get what I want. Yea man, you don't feel like your owed a thing.

Private vs public entities are a completely different topic.

Problem lies on how to transition into a different way.

That’s pretty much what I was getting at points are not going away best thing that could happen would be to try and get states to switch to a bonus system. End of the day just to much money involved for these states to walk away from points.

I'm not so sure. With all the information services available to hunters even the average Joe is starting to realize it's a pyramid scheme that they can't win.

Problem is everyone searching for an advantage over the other guy. The exact reason we have points system now.

Transitioning would be the hardest thing but if you get enough people to support it, then it wouldnt be hard. The state represents its people and should do what the people want.

I dont blame the people that pushed for a point system in Utah what 26-27 years ago. At that time it probably seemed like a viable solution to a problem. Now some 30 years later we see that it really didnt solve much of anything but we keep holding onto it because it was decided it will be this way and to hell with changing it.

I know when i got gohunt a few years ago I sat down and studied each system the states used and made a decision and where to put my money and built basically a 10 year plan I feel like whenever these threads come up you got a lot of guys pissed off because they started putting money in only to realize a few years latter they will never see a Arizona strip tag and now they wanna burn it all down

Yep, apparently they should be grateful that they even get offered any tags at all since those older than them are much more deserving.

And every time these threads come up 90% of those that are proponents for points systems feel like those that aren't only want some trophy tag.

It is largely ignored that nearly all units are seeing creep and everyone pounds their chest saying you can draw this unit with 4 points go hunt it. When if you look, some of those units experience point creep of 1 a year, meaning unless you have 4 points at this very moment, you will never catch it. Not everyone wants a glory tag.

It’s not ignored it’s just popular the supply and demand of it is out of control right now only way to fix that is for people to stop applying. I’m
Going to continue on with my plan it’s working for me we draw tags every year with the way it’s structured. Might not ever break 400” but I’ll have a good season every season

They should not suffer for the selfishness of the older generation and a broken points system.
And we shouldn't have to suffer from the incessant selfish crying of the "entitlement" generation that thinks they deserve a shot at hunting the very top units in every state that 99.99% of the population will never get to hunt either.

They should stop focusing on what they CAN'T get, and focus on what they CAN get.......just like us "boomers" do. ;) They don't want equality, they want equity.......in something they have never put in the time or effort for, but somehow think they deserve the rewards for that anyway.

So you deserve a shot but they don't and they are the entitled ones? Got it.
