January 2019 I stocked up on 1000 round cases of Federal .223 and 5.56 because it was online with free shipping and a 5 cents a round rebate. So with the rebate it was $245 per 1000. And 1000 round cases of Blazer Brass 9mm came to 14 cents a round after their rebate. And they had over 500 cases of each of those in stock when I bought. Demand was LOW then. ;) Demand is high now.........whole different market pricing. I don't buy anything when demand is high, but I have been known to sell.

It's like bacon......a year ago when people were stockpiling toilet paper, I was stockpiling bacon at under $3/lb. I even bought another freezer. Now I haven't bought bacon in months because it's above my price point that I will pay. But hopefully my supply holds out until it drops below that again.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I posted something about those ammo prices back when I bought it.......as a service announcement. I know I posted it on one of the forums.

This is tongue in cheek, but. How much did you pay for that freezer, and how much does it cost per month in order to save on bacon?

From someone who has 4 freezers.

I didn't do it for "savings", I did it because I like bacon and it was below my threshold price and I needed a place to put it. ;) Turns out though that it was a good buy since I needed space anyway after last hunting season. So I would have had to get another freezer either way. We have two upright freezers and two chest freezers. One of the chest freezers is generally used only for freezing all my milk jugs for hunting season.

I went on an ammo finding trip today. I actually found two places that had 17 ammo and they were 2 and half miles apart. One place was $17 for 50 and just down the road it was $28 for 50 No thanks. Both places were limit of one box.

I'm a bacon lover myself.

Its probably been 16-18 year sense 223 was .25 a round and that probably shitty steel case ammo. The cheapest you can buy right now is .70 a round and that is junk ammo. Your price is pretty decent considering what others are selling it for , no one gave the guy shit for listing 110 rounds for $200.

2 years ago I bought a couple thousand rounds of American eagle for $.29 a round... but not long after that it did go way back up, but not 18 years ago silly, this guys capitalizing on desperate people like us. He should get a job as a politician!

You turned down $17 for 50? $0.34 cpr?

I recently got into reloading and I dont think i could make .223 rounds myself for less than 0.30 cpr unless buying components in mass quantity, not to mention my time would be free.

Who knew I could get as much entertainment out of a classifieds listing...as I've said before, I realize (now more than ever thanks to all the helpful posts) that I recently overpaid for a full case - of which I don't "need" them all - so if someone wants to buy the other half, great! If not, I'll have a full case worth or eventually throw it on GB (let the additional hate comments commence after the GB reference).

Although, if I change careers and become a politician as it was suggested, maybe I'll need all I can get my hands on! 🤔

I just bought my first gun on GB. A good condition Ruger MK I. None available in town, heck, there were no MK I or MK II at the gun show yesterday!

That place is awesome!

This is strictly out of curiosity, when was the last time any (brass or even steel casing) .223 ammo was $.25/round (w/shipping)?

I saw in the "Be Respectful" classified post you mentioned stockpiling ammo when prices are/were cheap...so I was just wondering when you last bought .223 for that price, or if that's just "your offer" because you have been stockpiling over the years?

And I am not surprised, nor offended, by any of the replies to my "listing"...just an FYI
I just picked up 1000 rounds for 325.. so it's still around sweetheart.. better off on gunbroker bud
