Plug for BD Customer Service/Warranty

While switching on my Black Diamond avalanche beacon for a recent backcountry tour, I noticed that the lock switch had cracked and the beacon would no longer lock into the assigned mode. Surprising because this part of the beacon stays protected in a padded pouch 100% of the time with the exception of turning on and off and testing before tours. I never noticed the lock breaking when changing modes on the device, so I really have no idea how it cracked. While it would seem unlikely that the mode could accidentally be switched while in a protective pouch, not really interesting in staking my life on a cracked switch.

I submitted a warranty claim to BD with a picture but without a receipt (couldn’t find it) and they had a replacement beacon on my way within 24 hours.
