Taking a break. Almost to the next potential camp site.I hunt with some guys that would say you are in a perfect spot...since you have enough signal to post pics
A few years back that was our joke: "how do you know you are in a good elk hunting spot"..."3G service"
Odds are you are near elk, if they are quiet - go and find them...the thicker the better...miles = encounters.

Thanks TN ARCHER -glad you're enjoying it.
We must be in a helluva spot because I have 4G. currently at 10.5k
You found Utopia
IMO, the last hour of legal shooting time is better than all other hours of day combined...don't quit early, and really do some listening after dark.
Good Luck!
Thanks guys for the advice! What would y'all do?
Finch, how did the hunt end up?
I've been following along and doing a DIY backpack rifle hunt in October for the first time. I've enjoyed you experiences and learned a few things through it.
I ran across a quote by Mark Huelsing (the Sole Adventure guy)...... "Fact is, you're doing something incredibly difficult. Something that takes a lot of planning, money, commitment, and guts. If you make the trip happen, that's success. Experiencing elk country, that's an amazing reward. Coming home with an elk would be an unbelievable bonus
Great quote! Mark's website was a great resource to me (as well as Rokslide of course) that I referred to many times. Good luck on your hunt! Where are you heading?
