I just thought it was funny when JVB referred to anything sub wallopy as “piss ant”. So that’s what I call my 22CM’s now lol.

But I’m going to make an attempt at my first NRL shoot coming up in a few days. I’m strictly shooting it to get more comfortable with my hunting equipment, and gain more realistic comparisons of cartridges in forced field scenarios. I’m sure it will be good fun and an awesome couple days of learning.

I’ll be shooting my 22CM the first day and my 7-300 NMI the second day. I’ll only be using what I take hunting. Which is a 27” hatch bipod. A decent sized glassing tripod. And a small rear rest.

The 22 CM is about 16.9lbs all setup and supposedly has 7ft. lbs of recoil. Shooting 80 ELDM’s at around 3200fps with 39gr. H4350.

The 10 shot zero was .75 MOA and had an ES of 56fps.

The 7-300 is 11.7lbs and should have a felt recoil of about 18ft lbs with the muzzle brake. Shooting 195 Berger’s at 3040fps with 84gr. N570.

10 shot zero of .9 with an ES of 19fps.

Theres was an accomplished NRL shooting rokslide member that reached out and offered me a spot on his squad which I greatly appreciate! Other than that, I know nothing and know no one haha.

Day 1 and Day 2 are totally different, with different stages and targets. So it won’t be apples to apples for comparison of hits. So I’ll just be honest with my thoughts between the two days and the hits and misses and just articulating a comparison of sorts.

Looking forward to it!

Holy s#!+ 😂
Good luck, looking forward to the recap.
Thanks! This barrel is actually insanely slow. They should easily be going well over 3100 with N570 lol. But this thing pressures out super early compared to my last 3 barrel.

I shot the Wisconsin match a couple weeks ago with my pack, a molinator, and a tripod. I only used the tripod on 2-3 stages and ended up middle-low in the pack. Great way to learn building postions quickly with what you got. Keep us posted with what you learn!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Have fun! That’s awesome you’re gonna have company. Definitely take the help and coaching.
Definitely!! I was just going to show up and literally not know anyone. I didn’t even know there were squads until he reached out 🤣. I will absolutely appreciate any and all coaching!

Sounds like a blast! And brave man spending 10%+ of a barrel life on a match (from a guy who has an adores two 22CM’s) :D
Haha both barrels are coming off after this weekend actually! Putting a pencil barrel on the 22CM and a heavier steel barrel on the 7-300 NMI

@huntnful,
I’m really curious to see what your thoughts are after this. Have fun!
Me too honestly! So on my last hunt I used a fast 6.5 and 156 Berger’s. It was a great combo and I really enjoyed it. Feels like a happy medium for me for need for speed and still a decent sized bullet. Which we all know I love lol. But the terminal performance was excellent. I will absolutely hunt with that setup more and more.

He will be hooked and buying 6.5cm and a chassis 🤣
Not a CM. But a 6.5 something is definitely getting some field time this year! No chassis though. They aren’t my favorite.

I know what you mean. I just don’t connect well with a chassis. Closest thing to a chassis for me would be a KRG Bravo
KRG bravo is legit. I’d use that any day. IDK what “chassis” my 22CM is in, but it’s also totally fine for me. I basically just don’t like the pistol grips.

Subd for this one. Cool little experiment. I imagine I know which one will be more successful.

Is a typical NRL match similar to a prs match in round count? 100 to 120?

So this particular match has 11 stations on the first day and only 6 on the second day. Maximum round count of 8 shots per station. Minimum round count of 4 shots per station.

Hell yeah have fun with it! Careful though you might become a match shooting addict like so many of us..

My advice when settling on a dedicated match setup is to forget about speed, I've found its easier to spot your shots with a slow ass 6.5 (like a 147 at 2600) vs a 25 cal going 2900 +.
The wind benefit doesn't translate to more hits with the extra speed, I'd look hard at a 6.5x47
