Pine Marten traps line set

Good luck. Hope you have a good season. Do you set in the boxes because of amount of snow? Most people I know just set a running pole with a bit of evergreen cover. Eaier to carry materials in a pack/pack basket.

Yes, keeps the snow out, but it also keeps the birds out too.

Iv'e never trapped martin but, any bait / fur / meat exposed and the birds will have a field day with it. Back when we could trap in my state it was actually illegal to have exposed bait do to the birds ........

I miss the thrill of checking traps/snares. Thanks for the pics!

Me too, that's why after almost 25 years of not trapping I said screw it and got back into it. You're never told old, and its never to late!

Missed a Pine Marten on the first trap, left one of the safeties set. Don't know what Mr squirrel thought he was doing in the Marten trap, but it didn't end well for him. Did get one marten in a new set from last weekend. A couple bull moose, views for days, and at least the wind wasn't blowing...
