I’m looking to have a knife made and want the handles to be made with antler. I sent the knife maker some pieces of axis antler but they are not fat enough. He said it needs to be about 3 inches in diameter. Anyone have a piece of antler laying around they will mail me? I’ll pay obviously. Needs to be around 3” or bigger in diameter and about 6” long and fairly straight. Elk, stag, axis, whitetail, mule deer, anything. Color doesn’t matter as they have ways to color them anyway. Please reply or PM me

Thank you.

3" in diameter is nuts for a knife handle. The ones i sell locally are much smaller than that, you sure your not having a machete made?

I thought the same thing when he told me that. But his knives are absolutely beautiful so I trust he knows what he's talking about.

Yeah 3” in diameter is huge. You sure he did not mean 3” circumference which is about 1” in diameter? As a knife maker myself something seems off with that dimension for typical antler handle. Perhaps if he is trying to cut scales out of it for a full tang knife maybe it makes sense. I have been wrong plenty of times though.
