Its a handle and allows a tie off point. Worth a little bit of extra weight. Please excuse my curiosity but why do so many of you leave the lower legs on your quarters?

In the future I will take the extra 5 minutes and cut off the lower leg. My horses dont like them flopping around and they get hung up in brush/limbs. If they have to jump something they hit there body. Tying up the quarters to top of the saddle/sawbuck seems to take a lot of pressure off their back too from my limited experiencePlease excuse my curiosity but why do so many of you leave the lower legs on your quarters?

Yeah, you should get a donkey or mule so they will be smart enough to wake you up when you fall asleep riding!
Great looking horses and great bullPicked up this mustang last spring, has turned into a great horse both packing and riding. Was a bit lazy and slow as a rider until i got him walking how i like. Nothing seems to bother him, from grizzlies in the trail to horns poking him in the head when picking up sheds. Been a great addition to my elk harassment team.
