Howdy Gents,

I was hoping to get your thoughts on this setup and see if anyone had additional recommendations on how they have set theirs up. I was able to sell my 2013 Mathews Creed Tactical with the QAD rest on craigslist for $650 and was fortunate enough to find a Mathews No Cam on eBay for $900 shipped with a Stokerized stabilizer and the Mathews T-5 quiver. I already had a T-5 quiver so I sold the one that came with it for $100. My entire upgrade cost was less than $200 all in.

Here is my 2015 setup for here in colorado. Got an Elk, Mule deer, and bear tag. This is only my second year bowhunting so please feel free to comment on the setup as a whole. I am always curious to see how others would have set this up.

Mathews No Cam Black 28/70/75% let off mods

Stokerized HD9 Stabilizer

Mathews money tails
Zebra Trophy X String/Cables
SKB Hunter Series Case
Easton Full Metal Jacket 340 arrows, 29 inches, roughly 452 grains total

Cheers fellas,
dustin

Looks like a really nice setup. This is totally my personal preference and it fits what I do, and what and how you hunt might be different but if your bow is strictly a bow hunting setup I would adjust 2 things. The No Cam bow is extremely dead in hand and quiet so in the spirit of saving weight I might move to a small lightweight stabilizer like one of the little limbsavers, or no stabilizer at all. Keep the long one around for shooting 3D maybe but I use a small rubber unit mainly just to soak up a little riser vibe on my hunting bow. And the arrow rest looks very nice but again if strictly bow hunting I might use something that contains the arrow so while on a stalk or hiding in cover while an elk moves in the arrow is ready to go when I draw even if my bow was sideways of laying on the ground a moment ago.

I backpack hunt so weight and durability are a must. Nice setup though. That should have no problem putting meat in the freezer.

Nice set up. I shot one of these the other day- great shooting bow. I would second that you may want a containment rest if strictly hunting. As far as the stab goes, there is a decent thread on here with guys talking about whether or not to run an actual stab or a vibration dampener or nothing. I think it is a matter of personal preference. Go shoot with/without at longer ranges and see which you like better and gives you better groups. My bow is about as dead in hand as I could imagine but I still run a Bstinger 10" because I shoot better 60 plus with it. Other guys it really doesn't make a difference so no need to carry extra weight.

I agree with above - exactly.
Containment rest
ditch the stabilizer all together - unless it is unbalanced without it. Don't put it on there just because...

Gents,

thanks for the feedback! I also have an Apache Carbon rest that I might use. The thing I like about the No Cam is that I dont really need any sort of Limb damper, but the extra weight of the 6.5 ounces stabilizer does give it a nice weight. The bow is light anyway.... as for that Rest, one thing I noticed was that this bow doesnt have a breakover or a hill that you have to get over in order to get to full draw. as a result, the arrow shaft stays really easy on this spring loaded Spott Hogg Premier rest.

one thing I am not a huge fan of with Whisker Biscuits (and even the apache I bought) is how cluttered it makes the view look when I am aiming before release.it just seems like there is a lot going on.

I have the same bow and went with the axion 2n1 stabilizer. Small lighter and makes a great handle to carry the bow with.

Please review the bow after the season or whenever you have some time. I am in the market for a new bow.
