Koa wood. I use a lot of guys:Nice! What's that wood and who's your go-to source for stabilized wood?
Pins/glue require more hand work... like was said driveing up the price.
That would be a bit drastic. But you are likely right. They don’t need to use koa, even just curly maple, walnut etc like winklerLooks great! Also, if they did that handle, they would charge around 899.00
This thread has me wanting to play around with making some custom knives. I’m not ready to dive down the blade making rabbit hole but I’d like to play around with making custom handles. Is there a supplier out there with decent quality knife blanks? A lot of what I’ve found looks to be cheap junk.
Spyderco Mules, @feanor @Wilderness Spirit @Dixie , and any knife you can take the handles off of. I've done Benchmade, MKC, Ridge, knives of Alaska, and a few randoms from the post above. This thread has me wanting to play around with making some custom knives. Nice! Going to have to try some cork... likely be a nice lightweight option.
Send me a blade and I'll throw some on and send it back. Im not making a sheath for this one yet because I don't know if I will like serrated...Nice! Going to have to try some cork... likely be a nice lightweight option.
I like the looks of that blade shape more than the regular. I'm betting it handles cutting the same as the others but it's more svelte and appealing looking to my eye. I may have to have one someday#1 I thinned down some to be a little more like a bird& trout. 3-1/2 Magnacut with stabilized maple. #3 out of the same wood ,will finish tomorrow.
