picking out a kifaru pack

I was trying to narrow my pack selection and here you go and have me researching the internal Timberlines now as well... damn you.

It all comes down to the age old argument internal or external frame set ups which is better ? No one is going to see eye to eye on that one, however he really can't go wrong with either in my opinion Kifaru bags just feel better than most. I am really not that picky about the weight of bags or what is in them was in the airborne so I am used to lugging 120 lbs all the freaking time lol

Caught u just in time! They r a lot of pack for the weight...possibly the most pack per oz going....at least till the bikini came!

For me, it was availability. I was looking at the Bikini/High Camp or DT2 when folks started posting here that their ship date was September. Not wanting to wait that long, as I need to train up, I found a good deal on just the T2 I'd buy if I ordered one. Got it in three days, fits perfectly and saved some money. Plan on getting it some UV exposure this weekend.

I hope the timberline stays, can anyone elaborate on why or how the bikini hauls load better? I have the timberline 2 and love it so far but not hauled serious weight with it, aside from modularity of the bikini system which some may find appealing for mission specifics but my opinion backpack hunting is mission specific already and the t1 or t2 answer the questions about as good as u can and for me the modularity of the bikini system answeres questions I don't have, I think the timberlines will be tougher and more durable then bikini where the bag hangs on the chassis rather than built into the chassis...am I the only one thinking the bikini is just the current rage and the timberlines are the sleeper hiding behind the hype? Kifaru sure is in a good spot that's for sure lol. I think the t2 is the pack for the original poster.

If my missions were longer I would have gone t1 but for me the t2 was the right size, I can day hunt it, I can haul more weight in it than I should, should fit full elk quarters no prob for example or a whole deboned sheep should I try it in one go, maybe go five days or a week but weekends easy. I stand by the t2 for original poster, it squashes down to eff all!

The ability to change bags

More breath ability up the back

No barrelling when overloaded

Nothing wrong with the timberline (we sell the hell out of the), but if a guy day hunt and multi day hunts, the BT OR DT 1 and 3 combo are hard to beat.

If you're into putting the meat between the bag and frame, than the standard Timber line isn't an option.

Thanks Aron, good to see differences pointed out efficiently. Glad the timberline selling well, it looks like it's the one that's hard to beat, like having a bt or dt two bag combo with just one pack ;) Ha ha, gotta love kifaru gear, the options inside this one brand r so excellent! Can't go wrong. Just gotta pick what likely suits individual needs, order it, and get the heck off the Internet for a decade or two!

Stinky, I head to Calgary more often cuz of work. If you ever want to try out the bikini frame let me know and I'll throw it in the truck. I have the BT1 and its awesome compared to the old Keltly frame bag and badlands packs I have been using!
