I've got 4 rifles that I would like to kill with during the season, plenty of tags and time but as the opener creeps closer I don't know which to take. I should note I'll be the secondary shooter as my younger brother is up first.

I had to vote 270 cause of my own sentimental value around it. First rifle that hasn't killed is a very, very close second.

The American ms are great rifles in my opinion.
Needed something left handed, cheap, chambered in at least 6.5mm (might have still been a 270 minimum at the time), and accurate enough in case I drew a PA elk tag. Ruger American in 270 seemed self explanatory. He's hell on deer though, the typical range I shoot them at it's just too much gun if I'm meat hunting

I chose 270 because I like it, but it really doesnt matter.

Which shoots the best?
If doing any significant hiking, which is the lightest?

243 Ruger is the best shooter, my shots are gonna be sub 80yds though so accuracy doesn't really matter.

Only going in a mile, then sitting for the whole day. I'm taking my youngest brother so I'll have more weight in snacks and cocoa than guns
