Eastern NC. Jan 2026. My first "decent" photo of a Short-eared Owl. Not as nice as many I see of this magnificent bird, but it was late and getting kinda dark for my Sony a7iii and 200-600 lens.

Agreed. No hunting this trip. This a trip with my wonderful wife, who supports my Alaska back country and hunting expenses! Just might come back!

Edit: ...and if I do come back to hunt, I'll definitely bring my fly-rod!
