This is actually an American Kestrel. Many called them Sparrowhawks but they are not the same. The American Kestrel is a falcon and the Sparrowhawk is a hawk. I think the Kestrel is slightly smaller in size also.

This is actually an American Kestrel. Many called them Sparrowhawks but they are not the same. The American Kestrel is a falcon and the Sparrowhawk is a hawk. I think the Kestrel is slightly smaller in size also.

It’s not the same as the Eurasian sparrowhawk, but American kestrel and sparrowhawk are the same bird here in the United States.

Spent a few days in Okiehoma visiting family, only critter I was actually really wanting to get a shot of was roadrunner. On last day found one that would cooperate and he was eating a frog.
