Personal Best Whitetail

Got my best whitetail on my texas hunt with the family. It was very warm and the hunting was a little harder than normal. Along with that, the deer size was much smaller than normal, from what were used to seeing. I seen 2 really big bucks and was lucky enough to capitalize on one of them. Overall still a good trip and got plenty of deer and hogs. Im not sure what this would score but im thinking 150-155(160 max). I dont think pictures really do him justice. I was pretty excited and with my nephew so we failed on the picture part. Im going to do the TX wall pedestal mount for him. Definitely wall worthy for me. Y'all agree with the score guess?

Great buck! It's sometimes hard to tell from pics but given that he's essentially an 8 pointer frame, I'm going to say somewhere in the 140s. It takes a lot for an 8 pointer to get into the 150-160s. He has long beams and brows though, so I could be wrong. Score doesn't matter all that much. He's clearly a high quality buck.

I’d like to see the official B&C scoresheet if you were to measure it to see how close I am.

Like the details. I have a 130" deer for reference and to me it's more than that. The only thing is mass on this one as it's not great but average. Length and height are pretty good though. I think the kickers would count cause they are over an inch. I think its close to 150 but again a guess. Not to concerned with score. But when I do get it back ill be measuring.

Yeah for sure. Doesn't really matter. Once I get it back i will try to score though cause I am curious to know. Its definitely a nice buck. The other buck i seen was about 500-600 yards and he was just as tall and thick. He was an outstanding buck. But just couldn't get a good range and didnt want to take a shot. But it all worked out and im pretty happy. Definitely cant complain about this buck by any means. It will look great to my first TX whitetail I got a couple years ago in the same area. Scores are INCREDIBLY difficult to guess on pics, unless you’re very familiar with genetics and body size for the area or state. For those familiar with basic geometry, your elbow resting on his shoulder instead of holding him at arms length is a good indication that he’s a fantastic buck.

I’d be happy to shoot your “little one”….

The wall pedestal is a fantastic form to use.

What scoring system are you referring to? Makes a big difference.

For the "traditional Boone-Crockett" net or Gross we can all guess- (my guess is in the 130-140, very few 8 points will ever make 150" BC) but it doesn't really matter what some internet peeps or local friends say. It only matters when you have it officially scored by a registered measurer That's the whole point of the scoring systems, a standard everyone can compare to.

I think it's more than that. A guy that mounted that one(different deer than other 2 pictures) and my Mulie did. He is a registered person that does official scoring back in Wyoming. I have my mulie scored as well. He scored my mulie 178 3/8 NT. Just by judging i think its near 150ish. The picture really doesn't it do it justice in my opinion. But it really doesn't matter too much. Pretty big deer in my opinion, especially living in FL.

I like the measuring system where we get a 130 but it's about a 160 hahaha. You could be right but I feel pretty good about it 150. Even if it mid 140s or higher, still a pretty big deer and many will never get to take something like that. My goal is to get a matching 170" WT to tag along with my Mulie, but I think that's going to be pretty difficult.
