Has anyone had much luck with treating their clothes with permethrin? Does this stuff cause problems with covering your scent?

Yes- I use the Sawyer pump spray on pants, shirts and socks. A must for hanging treestands in the summer and even early bow season in these parts.

No- it does not cause scent problems. Some folks will dilute the concentrate found in ag stores (I've done it) and the concentrate does have a "smell".
I air dry the clothes outside for a day or two and it's fine. Treating the tops of your socks is important here because of chiggers.
The extra movement from pulling ticks and scratching chiggers would spook more game than scent if you are playing the wind right.

Edit: When I occasionally use a floored tent in a buggy area I have sprayed the outside of the flooring but depending on the material, its absorption can vary.

I have treated my clothes and found it quite effective during the spring tick season. I always forget to try it again this time of year for skeeters. After the bloodsuckers drained me last weekend, I will do just that, though.

Interesting. Where is the best place to purchase Permethrin? How many washes is it good for?

I'm glad we don't have chiggers here in WA. Those things ate me up when I was stationed in North Carolina.

Works like a dream. OK is packed with ticks and chiggers. Walmart, Bass Pro, Cabela's all sell it. Sawyer is usually the brand. It hangs on for 5-6 washes.

found swyers brand at wally world. am sure e-bay is loaded with the stuff. it works well. always turn my clothes inside out to spray and dry have heard that the stuff doesnt penetrate skin that way. as cheap as the stuff is would treat every trip to the woods........

Repel makes a version too. I have used their old Permanome product (didn't realize they switched until I just looked it up) and it works well for ticks and other crawlers. I treat all of my turkey clothing and gear with it and never have to worry about ticks. Not sure how it would work for mosquitoes though.
