Does anyone make a synthetic upland pants with the briar proof panels? For hunting Mearns Quail in Southern Arizona in Dec, Jan? Thanks Bill

I keep thinking (hoping) that Sitka will break into the upland market one day... They could crush it. Not much competition in that market...

I use under Armour They are cotton backs with nylon front and have a DWR. Shed light rain and dew no problem. I swapped out my Filson chaps this year. Very happy. I bought two pair and expect that will get me through the next decade of upland hunting 1-2x per year.

A buddy swears by cabelas prairie runner. I don’t have the pants but like the jacket.

Ll bean’s upland tech pants are amazing. They are the only upland centric pants built like hiking pants, stretch and breathability where you need, gusseted crotch, and The front panels are water proof. Truly an amazing pair of pants for bird hunting. Mine are going on 4 years of hard 40+ days a season use and they are still growing strong.

great thread!!

i need these. i did bad things to my Kuiu Attack pants chasing quail.

Patagonia Field Pants have been good for me but they are pretty light to not great for the cold, even with baselayers. I have had great luck with them and they have held up through some tough terrain.

They also have the Field Hacking pants which I have not used or seen but they look nice.

2nd these love mine got 2 prs...buy when on 25% off

There are quite a few outfits building these now - UA, Cabela's, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, etc., so that's good to see. Sounds like you found a winner with the Bean's. I might try those next year.

Havent seen anything like my LL bean tech pants......closest thing is the cabelas stretchy upland pants....heard the UA's don't wear for use well...all the "blu"jean pants are heavy & cotton

To my knowledge none of them have all the features the tech pants have, especially where mobility is concerned. Imo a gusseted crotch is an absolute must for climbing over logs.
