Man , I read some of these "Oh no , I got scammed !" post's and it's like a comedy . Is this their first day on the internet ?
They send money to someone they never spoke to , don't know and will never meet , and they're surprised when it blows up in their face ?
I've sold a few items here , but I'll facetime you , give you a link to whatever SM you want to make sure you know who you're sending your money to , BEFORE the sale .
I have zero pity for anybody that use friends and family and then complains , cheapskates .

If it sounds too good to be true.......

Just telling it as it is , consider it a PSA

Maybe…but there was a time not that long ago when the exact situations you’re describing were very, very safe on this site.

For the record I’ve not been scammed. Just pointing out the sanctimonious thread you started wasn’t always the case here.

There was a time ….. but now it’s a different story.
You have to adapt to the times, just ask the dinosaur.

No, people have been getting scammed on this site since the beginning.

Anyone know for sure if my CC would provide any coverage? I typically use PayPal G&S but I have the account to fund PayPal, set to 1 of my CC's. My thought was that if PayPal for some reason, declined coverage, I may able to ask my CC company, as they are typically way easier to file claims with. Essentially my CC statement shows a charge for PayPal in the amount of the item I purchased. I have never had a transaction go south, so I'm not 100% sure if it will work the way I think it will.

Done probably 100 internet deals over the years. Never contacted them other than to arrange payment/shipping info. Had one go bad for $100. Thousands of dollars saved. No wasted time with facetiming/phone calls/fingerprints/drug tests/or surveillance. No sleep lost over getting scammed, just use a little common sense and you will be fine. Cost of doing business sometimes.

Sad day if I don't trust my family and friends, not sure I would want to live that way.

Yes the CC acts as an extra layer of protection. Just keep in mind that you may not be able to use paypal in a situation where you had to file with the CC since paypal didnt resolve it.

If a purchase is north of $200, I will set up a phone call. You can pretty quickly get a sense of whether you’re dealing with a good ole boy who just wants to sell you a barrel, or a con man. I’ll ask questions about how they hunt etc. if you run into a really good con man who is knowledgeable about hunting and guns you might get screwed anyway. But most of the really smart skilled con men are making big bucks in the stock market or congress, and not interested in your puny rifle and pack purchases.
